On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to send best wishes to the people of Rwanda on the 51st anniversary of your independence this July 1.
Since the end of the 1994 genocide, Rwandans have proven that healing, recovery and prosperity are possible through, faith, remembrance, and the unwavering commitment to a brighter future. Today, we recognize these achievements and express our hope for peace, stability, and reconciliation in the region.
Congratulations on this special day, and best wishes for a year filled with peace and prosperity.
