FROM: U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE,
Solomon Islands Independence Day
Press Statement
John Kerry
Secretary of State
Washington, DC
July 7, 2013
On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States of America, I send my warmest wishes to the people of Solomon Islands as you celebrate the 35th anniversary of your nation’s independence on July 7.
The United States and Solomon Islands have built a strong relationship, and as we mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Guadalcanal Campaign this year, the United States hopes to strengthen this relationship moving forward.
Our countries share the common interests of improving human rights, promoting peace and democracy, and building regional security among nations.
I hope that we can advance these goals of security and prosperity in the future.
As you celebrate your independence day, know that the United States remains a partner and friend to your country.
