The Republic of Korea Chuseok Holiday
Press Statement
John Kerry
Secretary of State
Washington, DC
September 18, 2013
On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to wish all Korean people a joyful Chuseok holiday this September 19.
Though called different names, Chuseok and the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States each celebrate our rich histories and traditions. Both holidays are spent with families and friends treasuring our many blessings. The shared history and values of our two countries provide a foundation for the deep ties between Koreans and Americans and unite us as we partner to increase global peace and prosperity.
During the 60th anniversary of the U.S.-ROK alliance, we remember that the strength of our enduring partnership stems from the close friendship that binds the people of our two nations. I send my best wishes to all Koreans and their families as they celebrate this joyous occasion.
