There were 16,930 former Federal civilian employees claiming UI benefits for the week ending June 8, a decrease of 179 from the previous week. Newly discharged veterans claiming benefits totaled 34,609, an increase of 532 from the prior week.
States reported 1,707,109 persons claiming EUC (Emergency Unemployment Compensation) benefits for the week ending June 8, an increase of 23,147 from the prior week. There were 2,645,554 persons claiming EUC in the comparable week in 2012. EUC weekly claims include first, second, third, and fourth tier activity.
