FROM: U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT
Mozambican National Day
Press Statement
John Kerry
Secretary of State
Washington, DC
June 24, 2013
On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Mozambique and offer my best wishes as you celebrate your national day on June 25.
The United States and the Republic of Mozambique have enjoyed a positive relationship since we established diplomatic relations in 1975.
Our relationship has deepened over the years, particularly since the Rome Peace Accords in 1992. Since then, Mozambique has made great strides in establishing a vibrant state with impressive economic growth.
We are pleased to continue to broaden our relationship to jointly address transnational security issues, increase our bilateral trade and investment, and foster improved health, education, and agricultural productivity that help build a more prosperous and democratic Mozambique.
I offer you my best wishes on the occasion of this important anniversary, and look forward to enriching our partnership for democratic and economic growth in Mozambique.
