Macedonia's National Day
Press Statement
John Kerry
Secretary of State
Washington, DC
September 5, 2013
On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Macedonia as you celebrate your Independence Day on September 8.
The Republic of Macedonia has made important progress since independence. We look forward to continuing our partnership as you build a democratic and prosperous nation.
There is still work to be done, and we are confident in the spirit and determination of the people of Macedonia. We also believe that as a constructive neighbor and partner, Macedonia has a great deal to contribute to the Western Balkans and to the broader Euro-Atlantic community.
I wish the people of Macedonia a safe and festive celebration. The United States looks forward to strengthening and enriching the cooperation between our countries in the years ahead.
